Clay Space is a communal studio facility for early-career ceramicists. Residents have 24/7 access to the facility, which includes open use of three electric kilns, potters’ wheel, extruder, and more. The offer is for a maximum of three years.
Joining Clay Space makes you a part of a vibrant, experienced and highly skilled ceramics community. It provides the space, facilities, networks, and support to help you develop your work and transition into professional practice in an independent studio.
Current Clay Space residents are George Baggaley, Echino Ceramics, and Quay Tran.

A place is available in Clay Space from 1 November 2026. The cost is £175 per month inclusive of all bills, utilities and electric kiln firings.
To apply, please complete our online application form. Selection will be made solely on the application, with no interview stage. We will aim to notify all applicants of their application outcome by 17 October.

To gain the fullest benefit from Clay Space, applicants should be based in or near Sheffield or be willing to relocate. Clay Space is particularly suited to individuals who would enjoy being part of a vibrant shared environment. We welcome applications from people who are underrepresented in contemporary ceramics and especially those who face financial barriers.
