Tim Rose

Tim Rose is a painter working in watercolour and oils. With subject matter ranging from portraiture to architectural studies, Tim works ‘en plein air’ whenever possible, as well as from sketches in his studio.

Tim has spent many years drawing the human figure and has developed an ongoing series of head studies. These instinctive works — often depicting friends of the artist — are mostly completed in less than an hour, capturing not only a likeness but also the mood, character and fleeting expressions of the sitter. The resulting images feel remarkably intimate and emotive.

Tim has held a studio at YAS for over 15 years and exhibits widely throughout the UK, including at the Mall Galleries in London. He has undertaken commissions for major institutions including St Paul’s Cathedral, London.
